VP9

VP9 is an open-source video codec introduced by Google. VP9 is the successor to VP8, and it works similarly to HEVC/H.265 In terms of working and support, it reduced the bitrate to half without affecting the quality. VP9 is a preferable option for video streaming as it provides a better experience for devices like tablets and smartphones. In 2016, Netflix also announced that they were using VP9 too.
